Elizabeth Vincent is a UK Gospel/Christian artist with a rich, unique, soulful voice whose songs reflect her life, observations and relationship with God. She is inspired by Gospel legends Smokie Norful, J Moss and Cece Winans as well as R&B/Soul artists Alicia Keys and John Legend. She is currently studying medicine at university. Elizabeth started playing piano and songwriting from a young age but did not pursue music professionally until her early 20s. She explains;
"I discovered my passion for songwriting at a young age, but I would say that my songs ‘took shape’ when I started learning the piano. Interestingly, pursuing music in the manner I am now was never something I dreamt of doing as a child. However, about two years ago the Holy Spirit started laying heavily on my heart to share the songs I had been writing over the years, so I eventually started to record some of them. The passion for taking music to the next level came out of a desire to impact more people through the music God had blessed me with"
Elizabeth’s first single 'More Like You’, taken from her EP 'Dialogue' was released on Christmas Day 2015 and received a positive response, international airplay and a top 10 position in January 2016 AStepFwd UK Christian Chart. She later released her debut EP ‘Dialogue’ which consists of four songs she wrote and produced herself. Reflecting back, Elizabeth describes the process of creating this EP as a learning curve. “Juggling studying medicine with recording/producing music was particularly challenging, but I was determined to not let any moment in this journey go to waste”, she says. Her inherent drive and determination is evident and spills into all aspects of her life. She recorded the EP between her home and university accommodation, maximising the resources she had. Her story aims to encourage other aspiring artists/musicians that the level of their resources should not be a deterrent to their ambition.
‘Dialogue’ is a beautiful blend of Gospel, soul and classical/contemporary piano, and aims to challenge and encourage the listener. It begins with her realisation of the depth of the privilege it is to call God “Father” in the powerful song 'Father, Can I Call You That' and ends with her expressing her vast contentment in Christ in her stripped back, live ballad 'Joy is in the King’. Sandwiched between these heartfelt songs are her single 'More Like You’ and the beautifully convicting Track 3: ‘Love’. Though the EP is short, the message is wide.
Elizabeth has been compared to artists such as India Arie, Mali Music and Angie Stone but continues to shine as an individual in her own right. Her music is authentic and her mission is clear: to point people to Jesus Christ. She has already performed in several venues across the UK, as well as supporting artists such as Shantéh Fuller and Skye. As time progresses, she will continue to work hard academically as well as develop further in her ministry, all to the glory of God. There is definitely much more to come from this talented young woman.
